Our Story
Shreveport-Bossier City is considered a medium sized city in the US and third largest in Louisiana. There are approximately 4,000 Muslims that reside here and majority live in Shreveport. We currently use a makeshift masjid (a house that was coverted into a masjid) for our worship and community events.
For many years, we have maintained this small prayer building to meet basic needs of the community primarily to hold the 5 daily prayers with little recourse to larger events due to limited amenities for all segments of the community; in particular, our mothers and sisters and the growing population of young children, teens and young adults. Our gracious neighbors, including a large church, the Broadmoor Methodist Church have allowed parking for some large events. We recently lost a nearby parking that was previously available to members due to a recent property nearby being listed for sale.
The Shreveport Muslim population continues to grow attracting young professionals and entrepreneurs and have outgrown this prayer space with new urgencies to address the widening gap in amenities for all segments of our growing population towards creating a truly communal experience for all Muslim residents of the Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitan area.
To address this gap, The Muslim Community of Shreveport has a DREAM.
A dream that the growing Muslim community can offer prayers and community activities in a well-equipped space with basic amenities.
A dream that the brothers and sisters can have a proper space to worship.
A dream that the kids can come to the Mosque and play freely with their friends.
A dream of classrooms filled with enthused kids learning the Quran and other aspects of our deen!
A dream to create a warm and welcoming space for our dear sisters to have programs custom designed for them and activities for the kids.
But we need YOUR HELP to achieve this Dream! YOU can help to bring this dream to reality!!!
A property off Flournoy Lucas has been identified as a future Mosque for the growing Muslim Community. The total cost of buying and renovating the property is $1.5 million. The property spans over 3 acres and will In sha Allah accommodate the growing Muslim Community of Shreveport/Bossier City.
This can only become possible with your generous donations and efforts In sha Allah. At this point we are accepting donations towards this cause. It is the month of Ramadan and every charity you will give, will be MULTIPLIED 70 times.
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever draws near to Allah during it (Ramadan) with a single characteristic from the characteristics of (voluntary) goodness, he is like whoever performs an obligatory act in other times. And whoever performs an obligatory act during it, he is like whoever performed seventy obligatory acts in other times.” (Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, no. 1887)

Encourage your family members and your friends to donate. Building a mosque is a Sadaqa Jaariyah. He who builds or takes part in building a mosque, will have his good deeds being recorded even after his demise, as long as worship continues to take place at the mosque.
